Thursday, 8/19, the Voice Of South Oconee (VOSO) and the Fair Play Community Association (FPCA) held an information meeting for area residents. Subjects included: Progress being made to provide sewer infrastructure for south Oconee, Current economic status of the upstate, And a CU student project analyzing the economy of the area.
Governor Sonny Perdue announced on August 26, 2010 that Bielefeld, Germany-based plastics manufacturer Moeller Tech will locate a manufacturing plant in Elberton. The project is expected to create 75 direct jobs, and represents a $9.75 million investment.
With the establishment of both an I-85 overlay between exits 2 and 4, as well as a village of Fair Play overlay in Oconee County’s ZEO, there is clearly change in the community’s future. Infrastructure improvements, including the new, larger water pipeline recently installed, and plans for a sewer facility at the Golden Corners Commerce Park, mean that we can anticipate things to start changing sooner rather than later.

A heavy storm tore through the Chickasaw Point subdivision in Oconee County on Tuesday damaging boats, downing trees and power lines and ripping docks from their moorings
The new Mega-Ramp facility features six new ramps (and an existing one), approximately 150 parking spaces for vehicles with trailers, and approximately 85 parking spaces for spectators. The Golden K fishing tournament will be held on September 11, 2010 and is organized and run by the Hart County Kiwanis Golden K club to raise funds for their home access ramp building program, which builds access ramps for those in Hart County who need them.
The developers of Highpointe and Pointe West — Neal Workman, Tom Winkopp and Will Huss — requested in October that the council move to issue the bonds of possibly up to $5.5 million because banks were reluctant to loan money for the infrastructure needed to keep the project moving forward.
