Hunters on public lands (WMA’s) should note that since there is no Sunday hunting on WMA’s, the deer season will close on Saturday, Dec. 31.
Georgia Squirrel Season - Aug. 15th
Beginning August 15, 2011 and lasting through February 28, 2012, hunters can pursue both gray and fox squirrels. The maximum daily bag limit is 12 per hunter

New law brings changes to bear hunting in Upstate SC
A two-week black bear season is held only in Game Zone 1, which consists of the northern sections of Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens counties. Still hunt season for bear is Oct. 17-23, and party dog season is Oct. 24-30.
DNR biologist predicts good 2010 deer season
Top SC counties for harvest in 2009 included Anderson exhibiting harvest rates in excess of 15 deer per square mile. Very few areas in the United States consistently yield comparable harvest figures.
Sept. 1st Deadline for Quota Deer Hunt Applications
The window of opportunity is closing for those interested in applying for a quota deer hunt on select public land and at select State Parks. If you want a chance to hunt, you need to be sure to get your online quota application in before midnight September 1. A total of 35 quota deer hunts on public land and six State Park quota deer hunts are scheduled.
Recreation areas on Hartwell Lake open to hunters
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Office will open six of its larger recreation areas to archery hunters and small game hunting during the regular 2010-2011 state hunting season.
